Scrimmy ("we", "our", or "the app") is a bar-finding application developed by Lucas Gruber. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Scrimmy.

Information We Collect

When you use Scrimmy, we may collect the following information:

• Account Information: Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you create an account.
• Location Data: Your device's location (when you grant permission) to show bars near you on the map. Location data is used in real time and is not stored on our servers.
• Push Notification Token: A device token to send you notifications about new bars and chat messages. This token is stored on our servers and associated with your account.
• Chat Messages: Messages you send in the group chat are stored on our servers and visible to other users.
• Bar Submissions: When you add a bar, the bar name, address, and location coordinates are stored and shared with all users.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your account and provide access to the app.
• To display bars near your current location on the map.
• To send push notifications about new bars added and chat activity.
• To enable group chat functionality between users.

Third-Party Services

Scrimmy uses the following third-party services:

• MongoDB Atlas: Cloud database to store account data, bar locations, and chat messages. MongoDB Privacy Policy

Data Storage and Security

Your password is securely hashed using bcrypt before storage. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Your data is stored on secure cloud servers provided by MongoDB Atlas and Render.

Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as you have an active account. Chat messages are retained indefinitely. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

Scrimmy is not intended for children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. The app involves content related to bars and alcoholic beverages.

Your Rights

You may request to access, update, or delete your personal data at any time by contacting us at the email below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
